The following links provide access to a group of useful economic development resources
available via the internet. We hope you find them helpful.
Council on Competitiveness: The Council is a leading
think tank on competitiveness and regional economic development. The Council's
Regional Innovation Initiative offers
comprehensive reports on innovation-based economic and workforce development as well as a variety of tools useful
to development practitioners. The Council offers valuable data for national comparisons on competitiveness and innovation.
Economic Development Administration: U.S. Department of
Commerce agency that promotes economic development throughout the country. EDA maintains a useful library of resource
guides and links it calls "tools of the trade."
The site is also a good place to find other
federal agencies and organizations that impact economic development issues.
EconData.net: EconData.net is a very good starting point
to locate economic data on the Internet. Their "ten
most useful" sites for economic data are, in fact, very useful.
National
Governor's Association, Center for Best Practices: The NGA is a DC based organization that supports the 50 state
governors by lobbying on federal policy issues and developing state policy solutions. Their Center for Best Practices
includes a significant focus on technology and
economic development issues and
has many helpful reports and issue briefs.
State Science and Technology Institute: The SSTI
is a non-profit organization that promotes technology-based economic development strategies. They have a very
comprehensive list of web resources and also
a bookstore for tech-based economic
development periodicals. SSTI's weekly newsletter is free and highly informative.
